Confessions of a Die-Hard #TeamConrad

A friend recommended “The Summer I Turned Pretty” to me years ago, and I let it chill on my TBR list. It took a full-on binge of the series’ second season on Amazon Prime to make me circle back to Jenny Han’s trilogy. I went headfirst into Kindle Unlimited, juggling reading the books and vibing with the audio. Let me tell you, it was a trip.

Now, story-wise, the first book left me scratching my head a bit. It felt like a maze, a tad unreal, and had me wondering, “Where are we going?” as it hopped from one year to the next. But hang tight, it gets better. By the time I hit the third book, things got pretty normal. Why? Because it’s all about the love triangle, my friend. “We’ll Always Have Summer” takes you on a wild ride with crazy wedding shenanigans and just the right dose of flashbacks to tie it all together.

Confession time – I’m a die-hard #TeamConrad. Always have been, always will be. I loved that the story was narrated by all three main characters in the last book. Hearing Conrad’s side, especially considering his reserved and dark demeanor, was top-notch. But let me spill the tea: Gavin Casalegno is sizzling hotter than Christopher Briney, at least in my book. And his voice? Don’t even get me started – it’s like an audiobook dream.

Speaking of the audiobook, did I mention the actors from the TV show narrated it? Lola Tung killed it. Her tone, and the way you could practically hear her smiling through the stories — loved it. And Gavin’s voice? Let’s just say, sexy with a capital S. Okay, I might be gushing a bit, but seriously, the audiobook was the bomb.

Overall, it’s your typical young adult love saga. Characters growing up, making life-shaping choices – nothing too wild. Just a cozy read, exactly what the doctor ordered.
